John 14:26, ‘But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.’
Life is full of decisions and no one in this world is above influence. What influences your decision-making? Those consequential, important decisions we take are simply the overflow of the decisions we take day-to-day, in this journey of life. So, what is your point of persuasion? Is it carnal or spiritual?
Why would anyone expect God’s results when their decisions are rooted in worldly reason or fuelled by earthly concerns? It is common for people to question God’s sovereignty when they are hit by the consequences of the decisions they take outside of the light of His guidance and governance. It’s not just enough to have zeal for God; you must be deeply grounded in the Word of God because you are going to encounter the trappings and trials, the ensnarement and entanglements of this world, which can easily cause you to drift from the Divine purpose of God for your life, to the point where you end up taking decisions without reference to God. Inevitably, this will lead to a dead end.
Many today slip into the seeming safety net of taking decisions which are agreeable to the majority, often by responding emotionally or intellectually instead of listening to their heart where the voice of God whispers.
What motivates you more – the pressure of the majority or the principles of Christianity? Is your heart Word-ruled or world-ruled? Do you see God as your first resource or your last resort? What is the position of God in your life and your decision making? What dominates your heart determines your point of persuasion. When the Word dominates, rules and guides your heart, the Holy Spirit will influence your decisions in the light of His Word.
Prayer: Receive the strength to resist every demonic influence in your heart! Whatever hindrance between your heart and the Holy Spirit – be removed! Let the Word of God prevail in your heart, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen.
