Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
A fundamental principle that anchors our faith is that our God is good! David encourages us in Psalm 34:8 to ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good’; Matthew 7:11 reminds us that He takes good care of His children; Jeremiah 29:11 promises that His plans are for your good; Genesis 50:20 reassures us that whatever He permits is for our good; and James 1:17 tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from above.
As a Christian, the experience of facing a dark moment does not mean you are in darkness. What seems bad means good – it’s just a matter of time and preparation. It takes faith to see good in what seems bad. Therefore, don’t fall into the trap of doubting God’s goodness in the process.
The evidence of God’s goodness is not in the releasing but in the equipping for blessing. You cannot bypass God’s processing. Whatever you obtain without God’s processing will come without His covering. You cannot manhandle God into releasing a blessing you are ill-equipped to manage.
Romans 8:28 states that God works for the good of those who love Him, according to His purpose – not ours! God has promised to never leave us but that does not mean we will not face situations which suggest that we are alone; He has promised to never forsake us but that does not mean we will not face situations where we feel forsaken; He has promised to never fail us but that does not mean we cannot come face to face with failure.
God does not cause foolish things – but He can certainly use foolish things for the accomplishment of His purpose. If you see God in a bad light, you will not see light in what seems bad. If you are bitter about it, how can you emerge better from it? If you are too busy lamenting about it, how can you learn from it? There is a lesson in every loss. Behind every pain is the potential for gain.
Prayer: Thank You for being the God who works all things together for good according to Your purposes. Help me to submit to Your Will and see life from Your perspective. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
