Romans 6:1-2, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?”
People of God, we cannot afford to continue in the same way and expect a different result. If you faced life’s storms last year and did not come out of them stronger, don’t write it off as a bad year, without preparing for the storms that may be ahead in the coming year. We should not look back on last year and attribute our failures in faith to circumstances beyond our control. While you cannot control your circumstances, you can control your attitude. While you cannot control how demanding things may become or how hard situations hit, you can control the level of your readiness which will determine the level of your spiritual steadiness when those storms arise.
There are no shortcuts to spiritual maturity. You cannot withstand the challenges ahead without recognising the importance of daily time with God. No matter how busy you are, no matter how focused you are on your work or daily assignments, when it’s time to eat physical food you create time for it because you recognise how valuable it is. If you can do it for the flesh how much more your spirit?
You will never find the time for the Word of God – you must create it. Don’t expect it to be easy for your flesh. You will never rise above the level you prioritise. If you genuinely desire something you will prioritise it in your time management.
Prayer: Ask our Lord Jesus Christ to give you a hearing heart to approach God’s Word with a hunger and openness. Ask Him to give you the grace to understand His Word so that you can apply it to your daily life. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
