Psalm 37:7, “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.”
People of God, one of the greatest tools the devil uses to make us question God is comparison. You may be tempted to doubt God when you see someone who does not lead a godly life receive a blessing and appear to enjoy it. Carnal comparison can cause you to ask, ‘Why is that ungodly person enjoying life while I face all this trouble, even as I strive to please You?’ That is exactly what the devil wants: for you to compare yourself with others and fuel the wrong kind of questions. He intends for you to eventually question God’s character rather than bringing your questions, issues, and concerns directly to Him.
When we avoid the trap of comparison – refraining from fretting when others seem to prosper in their own way – we can bring our questions to God without questioning Him. It is then that we can effectively, “rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him,” as David admonished in Psalm 37:7. When we bring our questions to God and wait patiently for His perfect timing, we find rest in Him, even amidst the most challenging circumstances.
Faith is not the absence of doubt; what matters is where you take those doubts and to whom you take them. Faith is not the absence of questions, but rather trust in the One who holds all the answers – even when your present situation suggests He does not. Bring your questions, your concerns, and your issues to God, but do not question Him. As you give your best to Him, just as He gave His best to you, He will bring out the best in you and provide what is best for you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that as I leave everything in Your hands today, in Your time, I will see Your hand in my situation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
