“Grace and peace to you all in Jesus’ name! My name is Grace and I’m from Cameroon. I suffered from video game addiction and faced terrible anxiety and frustration before my exams. But what’s with video games? Well, since I was young, I’ve always had a soft spot for video games, whether console, PC, mobile, or any other medium that allowed me to play games. In 2021, I installed a mobile game that got me addicted. It became more manipulative after each update. Some stories in this game would make you like and have compassion for lucifer. I knew this was odd and destructive yet I kept on playing until last year, 2023, when I received a YouTube notification of one of Brother Chris’ sermons titled “STOP FEEDING A FIRE YOU CANNOT FIGHT”. My battle started after listening to this sermon. I tried and tried to get rid of that game – to no avail. I would uninstall it but install it back after a few seconds. I struggled like this for months until I got frustrated.
“In this state of seeming ‘powerlessness’, I had to prepare for my exams, and that was when anxiety kicked in. I was a few weeks close to the exams, but I couldn’t study. A programmer who couldn’t program! I felt like I was doomed. Being one of the subscribers to God’s Heart TV on YouTube, I participated in the Live Interactive Prayer Service on November 4, 2023. When Brother Chris said, “I know there are many of us who are caught up in a cycle of frustration. Let every cycle of frustration be broken in Jesus’ name”, I spontaneously remembered my problems. God located me and rescued me! Immediately after the prayer, I felt a very strong urge to uninstall that game, which I did. Frustration, anxiety and fear were gone! I felt joy as well. I started studying calmly. Since that day, I’ve never installed the game again. In February 2024, the exam results were posted, and I was amongst the very best in the country in my course.
“My advice: Be careful about what you set your heart on. What are you yearning for? Does it glorify God? Are you already into it and thinks there’s no hope? God did it for me. He healed me from an awful constipation which I earlier testified about, delivered me from this addiction – and many more. Your situation does not embarrass Jesus; He can do it for you as well.
