“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1).

People of God, it is easier to receive freedom than it is to accept freedom. Many people walk into freedom but they do not walk in freedom. This is because while spiritual strongholds can be dismantled in a moment by God’s power, mental strongholds must be broken down by our discipline, devotion, consistency in renewing our mind with God’s Word.

To walk in freedom, you must accept that you are free. If we do not accept our freedom, we may likely end up staying within the limits, the confines, the barriers of the very prison God has freed us from. If the devil can deceive you to believe you are still bound, then you will remain tied to the chains in your own mind. Then, if care is not taken, you may end up taking actions which cause you to go back into bondage.

You need to change your thoughts and words to accept freedom. Some may struggle to do this because they have accepted bondage as part of their identity. Don’t view your life through the lens of your past! Don’t limit yourself based on past experiences!

It’s possible not to accept freedom when you are not really ready for the responsibility of that freedom. Once Jesus Christ has set you free, you are a new creation and should no longer use your bondage as a basis for your sinful attitude or your wrong response. So change your thoughts and your words today and stop viewing your life through the lens of your past.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, today I choose to renew my mind with Your Word so that I can walk in the freedom you freely gave. In Jesus’ name, amen.
