Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

In every moment you are either conforming to the pattern of this world or being transformed by the renewing of your mind. You can know whether you are conforming or transforming by what you give your attention to. This world offers deception that causes confusion and elevates emotions above the truth. It deceives you to become accustomed to the ways of this world to the extent that you accept bondage as part of your identity. This creates mental strongholds and if you are not being transformed by the renewal of the mind, you can hold on to them even after Christ has set you free.

Being set free from an affliction can happen in a moment. We serve the God who parts seas, rains down manna from Heaven, opens blind eyes and deaf ears and sends forth His Word to touch anyone, anywhere at any time. But renewing your mind and submitting yourself to the authority of God’s Word requires discipline, devotion, and consistency.

After prayer, many remain in the confines of the prison God has freed them from because their mind remains carnal. They want the benefits of freedom without the responsibility of freedom. Darkness can be kicked out in a moment, but temptation of deception needs to be dealt with for a lifetime. The devil will always try to manoeuvre his way into your mind to try and deceive you to believe you are still bound when Christ has paid the price to set you free. Don’t accept a label that no longer belongs to you! Don’t view yourself through the lens of where you are coming from. Instead, because of what Christ has done for you – walk as a victor, not a victim; laugh without fear of the future; dance upon seeming disappointment; talk what you believe, not what you feel. Always walk in the light of your testimony as a child of God delivered from darkness into His marvellous light.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to remain faithful to Your Word instead of being deceived by the lies of this world that I may walk in freedom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
