John 8:31-32, “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free’.”
People of God, our fluctuating feelings are very deceptive – they can easily deceive and betray as they are often influenced by the senses. Feelings and emotions change. God’s Word never changes. That is why we need to understand that faith is not a feeling. Furthermore, we should recognise that one of the reasons people cling to what Christ has freed them from is the elevation of feelings above the truth. You are not free because you feel you are free – you are free because of what Jesus Christ has done to free you on that Cross of Calvary. He paid the price for your freedom and it’s time to believe what God’s Word says and act on it!
Feelings are not an indication of freedom. If your feelings suggest to you that you are still in bondage after all that Jesus Christ has done for you, don’t listen to them – listen to God. Don’t listen to changing emotions – listen to the unchanging truth. That’s why we must renew our minds with the Word of God and develop a consistent relationship with Him.
While this deceptive world would want to influence you to elevate your feelings and emotions above truth through the spread of confusing information, Jesus Christ wants you to hold fast to the truth of God’s Word. So take your time to know the truth found in His Word, and the truth will set you free!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, help me to stop elevating my feelings above the truth of God’s Word so that I may enjoy the freedom only You can bring. In Jesus’ name, amen.
