Genesis 50:20, “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.”
People of God, there is a common tendency in the world today to blame God for our unfavourable circumstances – as if He were being unjust or unfair. But the truth is, we live in an imperfect world filled with imperfect people. Because of this, we will face broken promises, unexpected trials, and storms of life that seem to hit us out of nowhere. But that does not mean that God is unaware of our situations. No, God is not behind that situation; He is above it and can work all things together for our good and for His glory (Romans 8:28).
God is above all. He can use foolish things for His glory. The road that God ordained Joseph to take in the book of Genesis was paved with hatred, false accusation and lies. But the wrong done to him became the right road for him. If Joseph had been nursing resentment and bitterness towards his brothers, he would not have been able to make the most of the opportunities God brought to grow through those difficult trials – to the point where he was equipped to be the leader that saw the nation through a severe famine. God was not behind the wrong actions of Joseph’s brothers; He was above them! This means that God can still work through the wrong done to you by others. That does not excuse or justify the wrong done to you but it calls for a right response to that wrong.
Faith faces the challenges of life without falling into fear. You can face them with a heart steadied by the truth that whatever God permits you to face, He equips you to face it. Faith is taking the best course of action with the right state of heart no matter the present set of seemingly unfavourable circumstances. Remember as a Christian you can control how you handle situations you cannot control. Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, today I turn to You in faith knowing that You are not behind the unfavourable situations of life but You are above them. So I trust You, knowing that I can grow through them, not just go through them. In Jesus’ name amen.
