“My name is Melvin from Namibia. I am here to give glory to the goodness of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It has always been my dream to pursue my studies, but it has been an impossible journey for me because of my background.
Before God’s Heart TV, I was addicted to smoking and drinking alcohol. By the year 2022, I decided I had had enough and something must change in my life, so I started sending prayer requests for deliverance and a breakthrough in my life to God’s Heart TV. I was given the opportunity for prayers and it was a journey to recovery for me; before I knew it, I had lost interest in drinking and smoking from that year, 2022, until now.
I knew it was not by my own strength to stop drinking because I had tried many times, and the longest I stayed sober was several months to a year. But this time, after my commitment to watching and joining prayers with God’s Heart TV, my interest in alcohol and smoking disappeared. Beer started tasting like water in my mouth, with no taste, or I would just vomit. I knew by then God had set me free.
I kept asking God for a breakthrough because I saw myself in a class while Prophet TB Joshua was teaching. I used to ask myself what this dream meant. However, the urge to pursue my studies grew stronger. By then, I struggled to get a transfer to a different department because I wanted a different environment for a change. I was frustrated and my only way out was to drink more alcohol, because I had no idea what my future held. By the grace of God, in the year 2022, I got a transfer to join the agricultural department in the public sector. By then, I was committed to watching God’s Heart TV.
I was gaining a lot of exposure in my work, so I decided to apply for studies at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) to pursue my career in the agriculture sector for the 2026 intake. I received my admission letter on January 23, 2026. Getting my admission letter was itself a struggle, because I did not receive any response from the institution via email. I came to doubt if I would be accepted to pursue my studies, so I approached the campus to enquire about my application.
Knowing my background, where no one ever makes it in life except with a continuous life of struggle and debts, I almost gave up. Although it has always been my desire to pursue my studies, it brought no success because of financial difficulties over the years. At 38 years old, I felt it was too late to think of such things.
I managed to get my admission letter by the grace of God, but from the moment I received it, everything started to change. I felt like all the forces of darkness ganged up against me. My financial difficulties became worse than before; I struggled to obtain funding from the students’ financial assistance funds organisation, which is currently subsidised by the government through the education ministry to offer sponsorship for students.
Consequently, the institution for funding is also governed by its policies, which limit their efforts to fund everyone. I was admitted for studies, but I was stuck with only the admission letter. I had the ability to pursue my studies, but without any guarantee of completing them because of my financial difficulties. I did not know how I was going to fund my tuition fees because I was already struggling financially, let alone paying for my studies.
I experienced nightmares and attacks in my dreams, seeing coffins, and strangers appearing in my family house, which was to me a sign of demonic attack. Every night when I went to bed, regardless of how much I prayed, I knew it was just another night to experience a nightmare.
So, I remembered to send my prayer request after a while, asking God for divine intervention. I was given the opportunity to join the Interactive Prayer Service at the beginning of February 2026. After the prayers, I was positive God would come through, so I kept applying for funding. As time went on, I only got my first feedback in April, which was a rejection letter from the students’ financial funding assistance. I was anxious and restless at the same time; I did not know if I would ever continue with my studies.
I managed to resend an appeal letter, which was also rejected. I had also requested funding from my employer as a public servant. The committee was only willing to give me a 20% sponsorship, which was like a drop in the ocean for me. So, I sent another prayer request in June and I was again given the opportunity to join for prayers in the first week of July 2026. The following week, I received a call to resubmit my application because there was a change in the decision to fund everyone who had been rejected. By this time, I knew this was God. At this stage, I had no more options. I tried to sell my car but with no success; no one offered to buy it. I went as far as trying to get a loan and was not able to. Days passed, weeks passed, and still no funding was available. Time was all I prayed for because registration for the second semester was due on July 10, 2026. At this stage, I was still stuck without a single amount of cash to pay for my tuition fee. This worry had affected my ability to perform well in class and during exams.
While waiting on God, the date for registration was extended to July 17, 2026. By the grace of God, on July 16, 2026, I got my award letter and I immediately completed the registration process. All thanks to God for opening this door! My sponsorship will cover all my tuition and registration fees from January 2026 until my final year in 2028.
This can only be God because there was no way out for me. I did all I could with my strength and abilities, and all I could do was wait for whatever the outcome might be. I was about to quit and never look back. But God doesn’t give up; where He guides, He makes provision.
While all hope was lost, He came through for me in my time of need, when I least expected it.
All I can say is thank You, Lord Jesus Christ, and the God’s Heart TV team for praying for me. May the Lord increase you more. My experience in this is that it is not only enough to have faith, but patience must also be practiced in God. Faith and patience work together.”
