DON’T BE IGNORANT OF THE DEVIL’S DEVICES!

John 10:10, ‘The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.’

People of God, we should not be ignorant of the devil’s devices! The reality of the Christian journey is that as far as you have identified with the Light, you will become a target for darkness, you become a mark for the devil to shoot at. We should not be ignorant that the devil does not want us to pray, to read our Bible, or to prosper spiritually. That is why he will try to dislodge, distract and discourage us spiritually.

The good news is that the devil has already been defeated in your life by the Blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary! The devil is a defeated foe – so don’t be scared; just be prepared.

We often lower our spiritual defences because we step out of faith, when we drop the weapon of watchfulness when faced with the temptations presented by the trappings and troubles of this world. If the devil sees those guards are down, the fiery darts will continue that can penetrate your heart and mislead you to sinful responses.

What is the way out? God has given you everything you need through His Word, by His Spirit to withstand the deception of the devil. There’s nothing to scare you as far as you are prepared.

Ephesians 6:11 tells us to “Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes”. We should not just put on a few pieces of the armour of God or only put it on at particular times, for example, when you go to church on a Sunday morning. Partial or gradual commitment to Christ cannot withstand the wiles of the devil because his commitment to derail us spiritually is total.

The recognition of warfare calls for prayer and watchfulness. Your role is to stay connected to the One who has already defeated him, the One who has already overcome.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, help me to give my full attention, my complete attention to Your Word today. Grant me the grace to abide in Your Word and adhere to Your will for my life. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
