CUT OUT THE CATALYSTS!

Genesis 4:7, ‘If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.’

No one in this world is above influence; everyone has a conscience. Satan knows this, that’s why he introduces catalysts as a means to dull your conscience, to kickstart you down the road to unrighteousness. Satan also knows that in the face of God’s armour in your life, he is powerless. So, he tries to convince you, to lure you, to let down your guard, to drop your weapons and let down your defences, so that he can strike.

Satan will tempt you with catalysts which may look harmless or innocent at first glance but introduce you to corrupting influences that are inconsistent with the Word of God. It could be that you agree to watch, listen or read something or to go somewhere where you are exposed and influenced.

Perhaps you’re struggling with an addiction to social media. Satan will come with a suggestion: ‘Why don’t you just check the news today? Have a look at this website.’ One thing can lead to another. Before you know it, if care is not taken, you can give your heart to fleshly desires and you are susceptible to temptation.

What is the way out? 2 Corinthians 2:11 says, ‘lest satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.’ What we do not eat, we should not even smell! We must minimise the opportunities for satan to strike our hearts by engaging it with the Word of God, consciously occupying our heart with the things of God – with God’s projects, God’s plans, God’s agenda, with eternity’s perspective. Don’t wait for a more convenient time – cut out those catalysts today! God’s Word will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Let every bad habit – be broken, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Every devilish interference in your life – in your marriage, family, career, business, finances – come out right now! Ask God to give you a heart that is obedient to His Word, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen.
