TRUE HUMILITY

Judges 7:2 – The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.’

Does it sometimes feel like you don’t have enough strength to overcome the many challenges you face? The story of Gideon reminds us that weakness can be our strength, because if we could manage the situations with our own strength and ability we would find ourselves boasting against God.

When Gideon had 32,000 men, he may have thought that with God’s help he might just be able to defeat the Midianite army of 135,000. But when God reduced his numbers to 300, he knew that it had to be God. His dependence on God became total, not partial.

As Prophet TB Joshua said, “True humility is total dependence on God for everything!”. It can be difficult to let go of trusting in ourselves because it is like taking away the safety net. But the place of absolute trust in God is a place of assurance, security and peace of heart. What a faithful God we serve!

PRAYER: O Holy Spirit, take more of us and give us more of You. We are not strong in ourselves. We surrender and commit ourselves into Your mighty hand. You be our love, our life and our strength. Be with us today; be our eternal reward.  In Jesus’ name. Amen
