2 Corinthians 10:12 – “We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.”
God has created all of us to be incredibly unique – with a special assignment in His Master Plan. It is our responsibility to settle down and find out God’s goal for our lives, so we don’t end up pursuing His goal for someone else. Sadly, one of the most effective traps devised by the devil to take people’s focus away from their God-given destiny is to tempt them to compare themselves with others.
We compare ourselves with others when we use human standards as a yardstick to measure our lives – to measure our success and failure. However, the definition of success from eternity’s perspective is different to what the world perceives as success. So, what are you running after? Material or eternal things? If your heart is set on things above, you would find peace in knowing that you are what God says you are! You would do what He puts in your heart through His Word, by His Spirit – not based on imitation or comparison with anyone.
PRAYER – Ask God to strengthen you to act according to the testimony of your conscience, not the opinions of the majority, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!
